What is Hectic Fever?
Hectic Fever is a fever connected with consumption, and showing itself by a bright pink flush on the cheeks.
Fever may also be described as:
- Remitting - commonest type with daily temperatures fluctuating above the normal range.
- Intermittent - daily temperature drops into normal range then rises back above normal. If fluctuates widely causing chills and sweating called a hectic fever.
- Sustained - persistent raised temperature with little fluctuation.
- Relapsing - alternating feverish and afebrile periods.
- Undulant - gradual increase in temperature stays high for a few days then gradually reduces.
What are the causes of Hectic Fever?
Some of the causes of Hectic Fever are-
- Over-dressing.
- Recent Exercise.
- Hot weather.
- Warm foods.
- Recent Immunization.
- DTP Vaccine within 24 hours.
- MMR Vaccine within 7 to 10 days.
Hectic fever is also caused by formation of pus, with burning in soles.
What are the symptoms of Hectic Fever?
Some of the symptoms of Hectic Fever are-
- Chronic intermittents with evening chill; chill begins in feet.
- Evening fever with chilliness.
- Typhus when diarrhea sets in.
